I'm excited to share this newborn session from last month with you today. I photographed baby Stanley when he was just 12 days old. He was such a gorgeous little thing, and despite being so tiny stayed awake through almost the entire session!
I love how newborn photography can freeze this special time for parents. Babies change so quickly, and I love being able to give families photographs that they can look back at and feel as though they are still in that time. I love to capture those details that parents will want to remember: teeny tiny toes, sleepy smiles, and little expressions. There's always something that's unique to each baby, perhaps they always sleep with their hand under their chin, love being wrapped up, or don't like it at all! By chatting to parents through the session I get to know about these little details and make sure I capture them.
When I photograph newborn babies I always keep props to a minimum - no baskets, buckets or unnatural poses. My goal is to capture each baby as naturally as possible so I use neutral coloured wraps and blankets, and use texture to add interest instead.
